Itinerary

1

Day 01: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Ouarzazate → Drâa Valley → Zagora

Approximately 7 hours' drive

Your private desert adventure begins with an early morning departure from your accommodation in Marrakech. The journey starts with a climb up the High Atlas Mountains, taking scenic mountain roads and passing through Berber villages to the impressive Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 meters above sea level).

Along the way, we will stop in Ouarzazate to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, a fortified palace that was once the residence of the powerful Glaoui chiefs. After lunch (on your own), we continue to the picturesque Drâa Valley, a fertile ribbon of greenery winding through the arid foothills of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you will see traditional kasbahs and ksours nestled among palm groves and farmland. Arrival in Zagora, often called “The Gateway to the Desert,” for dinner and overnight stay.

2

Day 02: Zagora → Tazarine → Alnif → Sahara Desert in Merzouga

Approximately 6 hours' drive

After breakfast, we continue our journey southeast through the Anti-Atlas Mountains, crossing remote desert plateaus and isolated oases that seem to come from another world. We will stop for lunch in the peaceful oasis of Alnif, where tall palm trees line the quiet streets.

In the afternoon, we reach Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. Here, you will swap your vehicle for a camel for a magical trek through the high dunes of Erg Chebbi. Watch the sunset bathe the sand dunes in golden hues.

Arrival at the desert camp, where a traditional Moroccan dinner awaits you. Enjoy an evening around the fire with Berber music and marvel at the spectacular starry sky.

3

Day 03: Merzouga → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley

Approximately 4 hours' drive

Wake up early to watch the sun rise over the Sahara—an absolutely unforgettable moment. After breakfast, we continue westward, passing through a series of villages dotted with kasbahs, rivers, and desert plains on our way to Tinghir.

There, you can take a leisurely stroll along the Todra River oasis, which leads to the impressive Todra Gorge, where 300-meter-high cliffs dominate a narrow canyon. After lunch near the gorge, we continue to Boumalne Dadès via the famous “Route of 1001 Kasbahs.” Arrival in the Dadès Valley, where spectacular rock formations and traditional Berber dwellings provide the perfect backdrop for sunset. Dinner and overnight stay in a local hotel surrounded by the beauty of the valley.

4

Day 04: Dadès → Valley of Roses → Skoura Oasis → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech

Approximately 6 hours' drive

After a hearty breakfast, we take the road through the Valley of Roses, particularly famous in spring when the roses are in bloom and local cooperatives produce rose-scented products.

You will have the opportunity to visit one of these workshops to learn more about traditional distillation methods. We continue to the green oasis of Skoura, where ancient kasbahs hide among the palm trees. Weather permitting, we will stop at Kasbah Amridil, one of the most beautiful examples in the region. Next, we visit the iconic site of Ait Ben Haddou, a mud-brick ksar listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its striking architecture and cinematic past (Gladiator, Game of Thrones), it is one of the most photogenic places in Morocco. After lunch, we return to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains once again, arriving in the city in the early evening. Your driver will drop you off at your riad or hotel, bringing this 4-day desert tour of Morocco to an end
