Your adventure begins early in the morning with departure from your hotel or Fez airport. Heading south, we will cross the Middle Atlas Mountains to reach Ifrane, a charming mountain town nicknamed the "Switzerland of Morocco," renowned for its chalet-style architecture and snowy winters.

We will continue to the cedar forests near Azrou, where you can observe and even feed Barbary macaques. After enjoying this peaceful natural setting, we will continue to Midelt, a town located between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains, where we will stop for a relaxing lunch.

In the afternoon, we will cross the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and drive along the picturesque Ziz Valley, dotted with palm trees and impressive gorges. At sunset, we will arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. There, you will swap your vehicle for a camel for a magical crossing of the Erg Chebbi dunes. A break on the dunes will allow you to admire the sublime sunset.

Upon arrival at the luxury camp, you will be welcomed with Berber hospitality, enjoy dinner under the stars, and enjoy traditional music around a campfire. Overnight in the heart of the Sahara.

Day 02: Discovering the Merzouga region – Nomads, Khamlia, lake, and palm groves

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes, an unforgettable moment. After breakfast, ride back on camelback to the village of Merzouga, where your driver will be waiting to take you on a full day of exploration.

We will start with an off-road excursion to an ancient desert mine, once used for extracting minerals such as kohl, used in traditional makeup. Next, we will visit nomadic families living in handmade tents on the edge of the desert. Share a mint tea and learn about their resilient way of life and ancestral traditions.

We will continue to the village of Khamlia, renowned for its Gnaoua music—an Afro-Moroccan genre inherited from the cultures of Mali, Sudan, and Niger. You will attend a live performance and share a unique moment with the local community.

After lunch in a small local restaurant, we will take a peaceful stroll through a lush palm grove, then head to Lake Dayet Srij, a seasonal body of water that often attracts migratory birds such as flamingos. The day will end with dinner and overnight stay in a hotel or riad near Merzouga.

You will have time to explore the traditional souks, which are particularly lively on market days (Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday), where you can find everything from spices and crafts to livestock.

We will then stop in Erfoud, Morocco's fossil capital. You will visit a specialized workshop where you will discover marine fossils dating back millions of years, to a time when this region was covered by the sea.

The road continues north, once again following the Ziz River. We will stop at a panoramic viewpoint to admire the lush Ziz Valley. Then, we will cross Ifrane and the cedar forests again before returning to Fez in the late afternoon or early evening.
